Meet our founder

The Human Group was founded by Melissa McManamy in 2020. In Bringing it to life, she partners with licensed counselors, management consultants, nutritionists, and a network of other professional coaches to serve clients.

Melissa spent over two decades of her career working for a Global Consulting firm as a Management Consultant and Senior Human Resources Executive coaching her clients to work through and embrace change. Melissa’s experience ranged from developing and teaching new skills related to new organizational structures and systems, designing and leading leadership and talent management programs, building and executing talent strategies, driving transformative large-scale change, and coaching and advising leadership. It was the coaching part of her career that she found her true passion to help people through change personally and professionally. Through self-reflection, life experiences and a craving to further help people through change, Melissa switched gears from corporate veteran to entrepreneur and coach and launched The Human Group.

Melissa earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Organizational Communication from Denison University, and Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kansas. She has a post graduate certificate in clinical mental health counseling, a license to practice therapy in the state of KS (LPC) and the ACC credential from the International Coaching Federation.

She is actively involved in the community and has coached several seasons off Girls on the Run of Kansas City, as well as a Board member and volunteer for local nonprofits. She is a musical theater enthusiast and loves to run, travel, and connect with people of all backgrounds. She and her husband, three girls and two dogs reside in Kansas City, Missouri.

“Having been in the same career for 22 years, I was ready for a change but unsure which way to head and felt overwhelmed. Melissa was able to help me understand what I valued in my life and what jobs could be a good fit. I started looking at my work life through a new set of lenses, excited to embrace the next chapter because I had direction. I really benefited from the framework Melissa provided and felt accomplished with well-defined goals for each meeting.”

Melissa is an amazing coach! She was so quick to figure out what my direction needed to be and got me moving! I would recommend her to anyone (especially those wanting to work on their relationships). I felt so stuck before working with Melissa. But afterwards, I had the best weekend I've had in a very long time. She will honestly change your life!
